As an organic raw material, humic acid is widely used in agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, petroleum, chemical industry, building materials, medicine, health, environmental protection and other fields. At present, there are five aspects of direct or indirect application of humic substances, which can be summarized into 70 sections. The main products developed in China include fertilizers, pesticides, veterinary drugs, drought resistance agents and feed additives; Drugs, health products, cosmetics; More than 100 varieties, such as petroleum additives, industrial water treatment agents, coal water slurry stabilizers, battery expansion agents, ceramic additives, ink additives, have basically formed a complete system of humic acid products in China.

Although the comprehensive utilization of humic acid in China started late, its technical level is not backward in the world. There are as many as 109 institutions of higher learning and research institutes engaged in humic acid scientific research in China, which have made more than 300 scientific research achievements, and some technical products have reached the international leading level. Such as ha organic fertilizer, FA drought resistance agent, spnh high temperature and high pressure filtration reducer, ha multi-functional pollution-free water treatment agent and other environmental protection products.

Humic acid is a kind of organic matter formed and accumulated by the decomposition and transformation of microorganisms and a series of geochemical processes of animal and plant remains, mainly plant remains. Its total volume is staggering, trillions of tons. It can be found in rivers, lakes, seas, soils, coal mines, and most of the earth's surface. Because of its widespread existence, it also has a great impact on the earth, involving carbon cycle, mineral migration and accumulation, soil fertility, ecological balance and so on. So the first person to pay attention to and study it is a soil scientist, who began to study it about 200 years ago. So far, environmental scientists pay more and more attention to it. But as a kind of resources that can be developed and utilized, I'm afraid it's just the beginning. The more rapidly human civilization develops, the more we feel the shortage of resources. Such trillions of tons of potential organic resources should be paid attention to. Of course, from the perspective of resource utilization, humic acid is not available anywhere. The total amount of humic acid contained in soil is the largest, but its content is less than 1% on average. The total amount contained in brackish water is not small, but its concentration is lower. As a resource development, it is impossible. Humic acid resources that are most promising for development and utilization are some low calorific value coals, such as peat, lignite and weathered coal. Among them, humic acid content is 10-80%. In this sense, the production and application of humic acid can also be said to be an aspect of coal chemical industry. China's coal reserves are very rich. According to the data, there are 5 billion tons of peat and 126.5 billion tons of lignite. There is no statistical data on weathered coal, but the total reserves of coal are 600 billion tons, of which weathered coal is certainly not a few. It should be said that it has more prospects for development.

Now, our government is determined to manage the ecological environment and improve people's production and lifestyle, which provides a big stage for the development and application of humic acid. Due to its special functions, humic acid will play a unique role in sand prevention and control, soil improvement, urban sewage treatment, ecological agricultural construction, production of green and organic products, development of drugs, health products and so on.
